Willie J.
Baker, Jr.
May 15, 1942 – December 6, 2025
Mr. Willie James Baker Jr. affectionately known by many nicknames; but, always stood out in his own lane of being the greatest of all. As a man of devoted faith, family and all his works, peacefully departed this life on December 6, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 15, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. He was the greatly cherished son of the late James Curry and Mary Miller.
Willie lived a life rooted in acts of service, unrelenting strength and powerful force. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and many more additional roles played in friends, loved ones life and anyone he encountered, never was a stranger.
Willie enjoyed the fruits of his labor with fishing, spending time with loved ones, teaching life experiences and lessons with grace and ease. Always open and willing to help others, principles he lived by and passed down to his family. And he was generous in spending time making the best of the best and never expecting the worse.
Willie has worked all his life from early childhood in tobacco fields, driving buses, fixing cars, working for the Leon County School Board in the culinary field and with the State of Florida for 30 years. He worked some jobs at the same time; yet, did it all with an infectious smile, will power, strength and full tenacity. Enjoying his retirement fully after decades of multi-level jobs, skills, knowledge and every ability to see all things through was the goal. Overall, hardworking, talented, devoted and a man of God and leadership. Willie always bought a smile to your face and laughter in your spirit.
In 2015, Willie married the love of life Ms. Kathy Pride (Baker). Their loving union spanned nearly two and a half decades until his peaceful passing in 2025. Their bond was one of commitment, laughter, shared purpose and love for one another.
As an only son he is preceded in death by parents and grandparents. He leaves behind an enriched and loving legacy.
